Analytical Therapy
Analytical therapy is a form of psychodynamic therapy, which has its origins in the work of Carl Gustav Jung and Sigmund Freud.
The analysis of unconscious processes is central.
Carl Jung has made the start to making soul processes visible and understandable with his theories on - what he called - Analytical Psychology, nowadays often called depth psychology. The ideas and treatment method has grown over the years and has further developed into a form of therapy that completely fits into this modern age and that can offer an answer to the questions and problems of the present time.
Where Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy, Neuroscience and Psychiatry are mainly aimed at successful adaptation to society, Analytical Therapy chooses a different goal. It's about becoming who you really are and, from there, being able to take your place in the world.
The therapy line is based on three main pillars: Awareness and insight, acceptance and integration.
Principles of Analytical Therapy
- Within every person, unconscious processes take place that influence his or her thoughts, behaviour and experiences
- Every person (unconsciously) strives to become that person he/she really is and to do what he/she really wants and suits him/her
- Every person is unique and has a unique inner experience and meaning
- The experience of the outside world is a reflection of what lives in our inner world: as within, so without.
An Integrative Approach
As an Analytical Therapist & Depth Psychologist I embark with you on a journey of self-discovery, where you will become aware of what lives in your conscious as well as and especially of what lives in your unconscious.
We explore the unconscious layers to find the real problem and your personal themes behind your daily experiences, questions, thoughts, behaviour, conflicts or recurring difficulties. We have no interest in labels, but together we will discover what is stored and programmed in the deeper layers of your consciousness.
You will gain more and more insight into your conscious and unconscious motives and where they come from. This way you will get a view on how these deeper themes are related to your patterns, your daily experiences and complaints, after which we will work on healing and integration.
By bringing suppressed or dissociated painful and traumatic experiences as well as unconscious new possibilities (and who knows, long hidden talents), to the surface and into consciousness, you can heal and you will grow as a human being.
Carl Jung called this adventurous path "Individuation", because throughout the growth process you become a more and more authentic person, with your own way of being. This involves becoming more aware of your own behaviour, thoughts, reactions, feelings and needs, and (re)finding and connecting with your individuality, by shedding the masks of your personality. Through your own world of experiences you will (re)discover and become who you really are.
Inner discord and division becomes more and more unity and equanimity. There will be more peace and balance, in yourself and with the other.
From human to human
I relate to my client as an Analytical Therapist but foremost as human to human. I walk alongside you on your journey of self-discovery and will guide you through your processes of becoming conscious and growth. I offer you a safe place, free of judgement, where you can talk freely and be honest about everything you carry within you, your biggest fears, desires and frustrations.
The therapy is entirely focused on you. The interventions that are used are therefore fully tailored to what is or what is not possible at any time and therefore depends on what fits or can help you at any given moment.
We will work with a wide range of therapeutic methods aimed at awareness, processing and integration. This includes insight-gaining conversational therapy as well as methods that allow discovery, expression and integration of your unconscious, such as dream analysis, inner child work, visualizations, active imaginations and creative forms of expression.
Sustainable Results - speed versus quality
Quick solutions, symptom or behavioural treatment often give some air, but after some time the problem returns, in the same or a different form. Analytical therapy does not focus on the symptom or behaviour, but on its origin. The therapy is therefore thorough and effective.
This psychodynamic and integrative form of therapy takes you to the roots of your complaints, deep in your unconscious, to solve the problem there. This results in the reduction or even disappearance of disturbing symptoms, feelings, behaviours and reaction patterns.
In this way, the treatment can offer lasting solutions and have a lasting effect.
